Methods of Detergent Residue Removal from Fabrics

When worn, detergent residue on fabrics causes conditions like atopic dermatitis, rashes, and itching. In this article, EcoWash HCMC will share how to remove detergent residue from clothing in a manner that is harmless to your health and skin.

Inappropriate detergent dosage

Inappropriate detergent dosage is one of the leading causes of detergent residue on fabrics. The excessive amount of detergent prevents the washing process from being thoroughly rinsed. Therefore, when using laundry detergent to clean fabrics, it is essential to follow the instructions on the packaging and use an adequate amount of detergent. To minimize detergent residue on fabrics, you can use washing liquid or washing powder designed specifically for machine washing.

To reduce the amount of detergent residue on fabrics, use washing liquid instead of detergent

Not routinely cleaning the drum

After prolonged use, detergent residue will adhere to the machine's inner drum wall, accumulating deposits. These residues will adhere to the fabric as a result of washing, leaving it in this condition. Therefore, when using washing powder in washing machines, the drum must be regularly cleaned and inspected to ensure that the fabric is always clean, fragrant, and stain-free.

You can use solutions or detergents designed specifically for washing machines to clean the drum. Pour a small amount of solution into the washing machine's drum, turn on the water, and allow the machine to operate for 10 to 20 minutes. The plaque on the drum will be cleaned thoroughly.

Not regularly cleaning the drum is also among the causes of residue on fabrics.

Low water level

One of the factors that contribute to detergent residue on fabrics is the water level. The detergent will become insoluble and the washing powder will thicken and clump in the drawer if the water level is too low and the clothes are too filthy. Therefore, when washing, the detergent will fall with the water, adhering the residue to the fabric. To minimize this occurrence when washing fabrics, you must use the appropriate amount of water for the quantity of fabric to be cleaned. If the water pressure is too low, the detergent should be dissolved before being added to the drum.

The large fabrics' volume

Depending on the type of washing machine, the washing capacity will vary; therefore, if you place too many garments in the washing machine at once, it will not have enough space to operate, mix, and circulate water. This makes it simple for washing powder to adhere to folds.

To ensure efficient operation and limit washing powder residue, you should only load 70–80 percent of the fabric compared to the machine's specified weight. Thus, the drum will have sufficient space for the detergent to dissolve and quickly penetrate the fabric to expedite stain removal.

70-80 percent of the fabric should be placed in the washing machine for optimal performance.

With the above information, EcoWash HCMC hopes to alleviate your concerns regarding daily laundry. It is possible to simultaneously make the fabric as durable as possible and improve the product.
